Our Founder

Raquel Vazquez

Raquel Vazquez is the Founder of Nido Poetry Collective. She was inspired to create this collective as a means of bringing together women of color who communicate their art in verse.

Raquel is an African American and Puerto Rican multidisciplinary professional in urban planning, community development, and writing. Raquel is Founder of The Empowered Block, an equity-driven community development consulting firm. She has been awarded fellowships and residencies at the Hurston/Wright Foundation, VONA Voices, and the Colgate University Writer’s Conference.

A Native New Yorker, Raquel currently resides in the Washington, DC Metro Area.
